INDIAN HEAD MASSAGE

Indian Head Massage is a therapeutic manipulation of the skin, soft tissue, and sensory nerves using a variety of techniques designed to promote deep relaxation and overall well-being.

At The Glasgow School of Massage, while we are an evidence-informed school grounded in modern science, we also honour and teach the rich traditional origins of Indian Head Massage. This includes introducing students to foundational concepts from Ayurveda, such as marma points, chakras, and the doshas, which provide a traditional framework for understanding the body’s holistic function and balance.

This therapy treats the whole person, focusing on the upper body—back, shoulders, arms, neck, face, and scalp. Treatments can be performed seated or lying on a table, with or without oil, depending on the client’s preference.
